Happy Valentine’s Day!

I am actually procrastinating on Homework.
First off, the Netherlands was, as usual, awesome! I miss it more than ever. But the weird thing is, I was terribly homesick the first week. Like, if I could have gotten a ticket back home the day after I got there, I probably would have sadly gone back! I missed me family and house and security. Being in a foreign country where you can’t read anything kind of gets to you after a while.
So I practiced Dutch a lot And had fun.
School is excellent. This is probably the most challenging term I have ever had, but this will be the maximum amount of stress I will have to go through for this degree. So I’m glad I’m doing it! Senior project is mostly stressful because of the group part. There is no longer doing things at 3 in the morning, you have to have GROUP MEETINGS! I am not a fan of those because they are at inconvenient times on days I do not prefer, which is every day. Only two more classes after this is all over, and I am so thrilled. I am hoping to work full time and start paying off some of the smaller loans I have acquired while taking those. I have decided what I want to study for a graduate degree, but now I am debating over another Bachelor’s instead. I will see what the future sees best fit.
Valentine’s day was honestly, not that great. Robert did get me a card and a present (kind of. It’s more like wiring me money to get my hair done) but I have to wait for it all to get here I went over to my parent’s house this morning, and we tried to fix my phone. We ended up breaking it even more. Before, the 7 button did not work. It was annoying, but manageable. Now the 0 button doesn’t work either, and neither does the spacebar in texting. So after I took my brother and sister to McDonalds, Alicia and I ran over to wal mart and grabbed the same phone that my little sister has, but with a slightly different plan. I brought it home, and was all excited because it can do international calling. I dialed Robert’s number, and it said this service is not available. We read the instructions, and I have to wait 2 days until that part is activated. Even worse, no international texting!! Which is outrageous. I’ll see how long this stupid lasts.
We also broke my car! The window in the front used to not roll down. So we forced it to roll down and now it wont roll up. So we need to take that in and get an estimate on how much it will cost to get fixed. It does need to get fixed regardless. I mean, I live in Oregon. It rains almost every day. So I am kind of bummed.
What ever. I really feel like there is some good luck heading my way real soon!

Dear Ebay;
This is why you should not have let me signed up for an account

It’s blue. It’s Blythe. It’s little. It’s cute.
Thankfully, I do not have that amount of money in all my accounts combined.
Sincerely, Christina

Thanksgiving with a Bunch of Nerds

Well, since my family celebrated Thanksgiving on Sunday, I had real Thanksgiving with Aaron and Sarah and his brother up in Portland at his cousin’s house. It was awesome. All the same people from the Birthday party was there, so while I did not remember everyone’s names, I did not have to go through the entire introduction again.
There was lots of food. She also made two of everything because she likes to use nuts and someone was allergic to nuts. So some of the foods I did not even have to pick the nuts out of. I ate until I was sick, which wasn’t very much since I weight like 96 lbs. Then we had the best wine ever. I want to find out where to get some of this in Europe so Robert can try some too. It didn’t even taste like wine it was just sweet goodness.
The nerdiest thing that came up was Star Trek. I am so not interested in that
Today I woke up and felt stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Could not think. I could not figure things out for CS271 which I consider to be math heavy. I know it’s just algebra but just the same. So I was having problems studying, doing homework, pretty much did none, though I did do some awesome extra credit SQL assignment. Insert digits 0 to 99 using only a table of digits 0 - 9, and find any even numbers that cannot be created by adding the sum of two prime numbers. I think I had my brain-bashing helping of math today. I just sent my poor adviser a 2.5 long page email about my group project, which is going horribly awesome but horribly wrong at the same time. It is awesome because I am doing 90% of the work. It is horribly wrong because I am doing 90% of the work and this one girl who has done 0% of the work keeps telling me what I do is wrong. We have to meet up tomorrow… I am going to be heavily drugged at 8am. I don’t know how I feel about starting my day off like that.

That word “Group Project” alone should explain every thing.
Aside from that, I have discovered that pointing out even stupidly positive things at the end of the day really do make me happy! So here we go!
I am glad to be alive
I am glad I’m not pregnant
I am glad I have a working laptop !
I am glad I have a very nice boyfriend to talk to at the end of my bad days
I am glad I have chocolate
I am glad to be in school, despite how frustrating it may be at times
I am sooo in love with my job!!
Okay. Good Night

Thrilling Disaster

I have turned into such a pessimist in the past year or so. I need to knock out of it. Just nothing lucky has happened in a while. I remember the first month I moved out, that week I switched the electric over to my name then took off to Holland, their system had some sort of crash or goof off, and they lost a lot of data. So I didn’t get an electric bill until 3 months after I was moved in, and it was only for one month. I need weird crazy luck like that again.
Mmm! I had one of these from school on Friday, except I had no idea what it was. I was looking at it in the store and I was like that stuff inside looks like poop.. must be chocolate! I took it back to work, it was shaped funny, so I thought it was berries. I bit into it and I was in dark chocolate heaven. Oh my gosh how I love dark chocolate. The rest cannot even compare any more. So I searched on the internet this morning hoping to find a recipe.
Unfortunately, that bread takes way too long to make. So I went to the store and bought some pre-made croissants, and some chocolate chips of all different sweetness, and went over to Aaron’s to make them and they turned out pretty good
Unfortunately, the store was a disaster, as one might have guessed. My car refused to start. Dad came and looked at it. I was hoping to make these at home so it would be a surprise for my family tonight. They decided to celebrate Thanksgiving today this year rather than Thursday because my dad has to work. I don’t usually bring anything, so I wanted it to be a surprise. Then Aaron invited me over to come cook with them because him and his wife were bored. So I had to explain it all to Dad, and then Aaron came and picked me up. Battery in my car is dead. Thankfully I have a huge savings at their house and we are going to just borrow some money out of there for a new one. I will pay that back on Friday when I get paid
I finished the baking and Alicia picked me up and then my uncle came over and we all ate dinner. It was great. We drew for Secret Santa names, except in my family it really never is a secret. I got Alicia, who is my 17-year-old sister. She wants a lot of things. Right now she really wants a nose ring. Unfortunately, we set a price limit of $20. I don’t really know what to get her I’m sure I’ll come up with something cool
Also, just to finish this off, Alicia and I ran back to the store later to get some Sparkling Cider. Man it was busy because of Thanksgiving! Glad we got it done with early! I also decided to buy toothbrushes for Holland.. because yanno, they don’t have toothbrushes or deodorant over there… I’m so unreasonably stupid sometimes

Well, life is pretty boring, which totally entices people to read this.
Anywho, it is almost finals week. I am so out of wack. I had a dream that I woke up late for a morning final, and got all the times wrong for the rest of the finals, so I missed them all and failed the entire term. It felt so real it was scary I know now I wont be able to sleep the night before because of that fear.
I have been preparing for Holland again. There isn’t really much to prepare for the third time. But my biggest goal is to be able to save enough money for bills while I am gone, be able to get rides organized sooner than the day before, and take phone numbers with me this time D: Last year I got lost in the Dutch airport (Schiphol) with no cell phone or phone numbers. I was at a complete loss, then I found Robert, so that was okay.
Signed up for most of my classes next term. I am going to take Parallel Programming, which sounds like it was be as hard as the name itself. We are going to code on an Intel i7 quad core processor with hyperthreading to turn it into an 8 core and we will be using VB2010, C++ and C#. My C++ is very rusty, almost non-existent at this point, so we’ll see how that goes. I figure the third week into the term I should know if I will be able to handle it or not
Senior project is coming up. I am so stressed over this term, I cannot even fathom what that is going to be like. 6 month group project. Been there, done that, don’t want to do it again. On the other hand, I cannot believe I am almost done with a degree that two people literally told me I could not do. What winners they are. I mean, really. If a class gets in the way, they win; they were right, but I feel like I’m so close it’s thrilling

Last time I tried to install this, I didn’t really have that great of a computer. Not saying my laptop is the best thing out there. Hell it is outdated as fuck, and it seems to be reaching its in seeing as how the headphone jack is taking a shit.
I reinstalled BBLean though I like it a lot so far. It doesn’t really seem to do anything cool, it just looks real pretty.

Aaron showed me a cool Firefox plugin called StumbleUpon a few months ago. I didn’t try it out until today and I found Side Walk Chalk Art. I think it is absolutely awesome, it makes me want to try. How ever I don’t know how I feel about putting so much time into art that will be washed away by the rain. Such a bummer. Awesome to look at though
My two most stressful midterms are over. Now I just have to patiently wait for the grade. I am worried about CS420 I felt like I understood everything really well, so I wonder if maybe I misunderstood everything. We will see tomorrow.
